Electricity output by primary energy source
Total electricity output did not significantly change in FY22. Reduced generation from Loy Yang A Power Station (brown coal) resulting from increased outages was offset by increased generation from Liddell and Bayswater power stations (black coal). Natural gas generation further decreased overall due to the mothballing of the A3 and B1 units and retirement of unit A1 at AGL Torrens during FY22, and reduced output from Barker Inlet Power Station. Hydro generation increased in FY22 compared to FY21 due to significant plant outages and decreased water releases in FY21. Wind generation increased slightly from FY21 to FY22.
Notes
Data relates to the sent-out electricity generation from assets over which AGL has operational control regardless of who owns the asset. Assets where AGL controls or has rights to the electricity output only are not included.
In addition to the electricity output shown, in FY22, AGL produced 131 TJ of heat energy (as steam) from AGL's operated natural gas cogeneration facilities. This comprised steam produced at AGL Torrens and sold to Air Liquide.
AGL's portfolio of landfill gas, biomass and biogas generation assets formerly known as the National Assets was sold in FY19.
Output is rounded to the nearest GWh.
