Scope 3 emissions
AGL's material Scope 3 emissions for FY22 were relatively consistent with FY21 levels. Declining Scope 3 emissions from the supply of electricity to customers was driven by lower sales volumes and lower grid intensity in FY22. This was offset by increased Scope 3 emissions associated with increased coal sales from Loy Yang Mine to Loy Yang B Power Station.

Notes
Supply of electricity to customers includes emissions associated with the transmission and distribution of electricity as well as from upstream activities including generation where AGL is short.
Electricity produced by AGL and sold into energy markets are excluded from this footprint.
Sale of electricity and gas to ActewAGL (for supply to ActewAGL customers) is included as ActewAGL is a customer of AGL. FY18 - FY21 electricity generation and transmission and distribution emissions have been restated to include electricity sold to ActewAGL.
Supply of natural gas to customers includes emissions associated with the production, transportation and distribution of natural gas sold.
Supply of natural gas emissions for FY21 and "Other" Scope 3 emissions for FY19 and FY20 have been updated due to updated data and/or calculation methodology.
FY22 supply of gas to customers Scope 3 emissions was updated in November 2022. Preliminary data was included at the time of the initial release of the FY22 ESG Data Centre on 19 August 2022.
Greenhouse gas emissions are rounded to the nearest 0.1 MtCO2e.
FY22 Scope 3 emissions associated with the "Other" category (emissions from staff, travel, waste, investments, etc) is currently not available and will be included in the the FY23 ESG Data Centre.
