Community contribution by program area
We invest in the communities in which we operate through a structured program of community investment. Overall community contributions for FY22 were $3.8 million. This represented a 28% reduction as compared with FY21. This reduction in community investment is due to a number of factors including our focus on the proposed demerger over FY22, the Crib Point Jetty Project not proceeding, and lower management costs compared to FY21.
Notes
From FY22, Local community investment includes all community contributions at assets that AGL operates. Up to and including FY21, data only included funding grants allocated through a publicly advertised expression of interest process which was open to all organisations and associations operating within the community which met a specific set of criteria. Other local community investments which were not made through funds were accounted for within AGL's total community contribution. We have made this change to better reflect the total community contribution at our assets.
Up to and including FY21, AGL Loy Yang and AGL Macquarie community investments were itemised separately. From FY22 these investments are included in Local community investment.
Prior to FY21, naming rights retail sponsorships were included however from FY21 they are no longer included to provide greater alignment with the B4SI framework.
From FY21, data includes management costs in line with B4SI guidance. Management costs were not included in prior years. In FY22 management costs were approximately $1.1m.
